What does it really mean to say, “Victory is ours in Christ”?

For many of us, that sounds like a hopeful idea but not always a present reality.
Because if we’re honest, life doesn’t always feel like victory. There are still struggles, still pain, still questions and still the reality of death.

But then we come to a moment like this in Scripture. The people of Israel stand on the other side of the Red Sea and declare: “The LORD has triumphed gloriously.” Why? Because what looked like the end… wasn’t the end. God turned their place of defeat into a place of deliverance. And that moment is pointing us forward to something even greater. To Easter!

Because at the cross, it looked like everything was lost. Jesus was crucified, Hope seemed buried, Death looked final. But three days later, everything changed. The resurrection of Jesus is not just a miracle, it is a declaration:
Sin is defeated.
Death is defeated.
The victory has been won.

Jesus: Our Greater Exodus

From the shores of the Red Sea to the hill of Calvary, Scripture tells one unified story of deliverance.

At the Red Sea, God made a way where there was no way, rescuing His people from slavery, leading them through the waters into freedom. But that rescue was only a shadow of a greater deliverance to come. At Calvary, during Passion Week, we see the ultimate rescue unfold. Not from earthly oppression, but from sin and death. Just as the waters parted to save Israel, the body of Christ was broken to make a way for us. The cross becomes our passage; from bondage to freedom, from death to life.

This Sunday, we journey together from the Red Sea to Calvary discovering how God’s saving work has always been pointing us to Jesus as Byron Chae from Fellowship International brings God's word to us.

This Isn’t Fair… But God Is Faithful

We live in a world shaped by control, power, and fear. A world where suffering is inevitable, worth is measured by usefulness, and freedom often feels like a trap. It’s no wonder we cry out, “God, this isn’t fair!”

But here’s the life-changing truth: we don’t fight for our worth, God fights for us. He allows suffering, He permits evil, yet He is sovereign, He writes the story, and He will protect and redeem what we cannot protect ourselves.

Trusting God at the Crossroads

Big decisions shape the direction of our lives.
Career moves, marriage, finances, ministry choices, where to live, what to pursue; when the stakes are high, we want to get it right. We weigh risks, seek advice, pray, and ask God for clarity. But what happens when God’s guidance doesn’t look like the obvious or the easiest path?

In Book of Exodus 13, God leads Israel out of Egypt but not by the shortest road. Instead of the quick and obvious route, He directs them through the wilderness. Why would God choose the harder path?

This passage reveals something powerful about how God leads His people and how we make decisions with Him at the center. It challenges the way we often think about guidance, control, and success.

This Sunday we’ll explore what it truly means to trust God when making life’s biggest decisions. If you are standing at a crossroads in life, seeking direction, wisdom, or peace, this message is for you.

A Special Sunday: Celebrating Ordination

This Sunday is going to be a little different at Liberty Grace Church as we gather to celebrate my ordination.

Ordination is a meaningful moment in the life of the church. It is not about elevating a person, but about recognizing God’s calling and setting someone apart for the work of ministry through prayer and the affirmation of the church community. Throughout Scripture, we see God’s people laying hands on leaders and commissioning them to serve His people faithfully (Acts 13:2–3).

This Sunday will be a time of worship, prayer, and thanksgiving as we celebrate what God is doing in and through our church. I would love for you to join us in this special service and share in the joy of this moment together.

Blood, Bread, and the Firstborn

Something is happening in Exodus!

Israel is walking out of Egypt but freedom is not the most important thing happening. Before they reach the wilderness… before they receive the law… before they see the Promised Land… God does something unexpected. He gives them an identity.

Three strange instructions emerge in the shadow of deliverance: circumcision, the consecration of the firstborn, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. At first glance, they feel ritualistic. Ceremonial. Even restrictive. What if they are revelations?What if, hidden inside these commands, is a whisper about who truly belongs to God and how?

God is doing more than rescuing slaves. He is forming a people. He is marking them. He is teaching them that identity is not achieved, it is received.

And here is the greater mystery: Israel’s identity was never the final destination. It was a shadow. A signpost. A foreshadowing.

One day, a true Firstborn would not be redeemed but given.
One day, a greater Passover Lamb would be sacrificed.
One day, belonging would move from an outward mark to a circumcised heart.

Israel’s story was preparing us for Christ.

The Full Picture of God

We like God to be convenient. A God who comforts but never confronts. A God who agrees with us, never challenges us. But what if the God of the Bible doesn’t fit neatly into our plans?

In the book of Exodus during the final plague, God shows Himself fully, both judge and rescuer. He confronts false gods, breaks the power of Egypt, and delivers His people in one night. Judgment and salvation meet. Death is real, but so is rescue.

The question for us is simple and unsettling: Which God are we trusting? The one we’ve shaped for our comfort, or the one who reshapes us for freedom?

When God Resets the Clock

What if your calendar could preach the gospel?

In Exodus 12, God does something unexpected. Before He delivers His people, He resets their clock. “This month shall be for you the beginning of months.” In other words: Time will now begin with redemption.

The Passover is more than a historic meal. It is a declaration that God is not reacting to time, He rules over it. He controls the moment of judgment. He appoints the hour of deliverance. He sets the rhythm of remembrance. And He calls His people to live by a different story.

This Sunday, we will explore two powerful dimensions of the Passover:

The Timing of the Feast- Why did God reset Israel’s calendar? What does it mean to let God define our beginning?
The Instructions of the Feast- Why the lamb? Why the blood? Why the urgency? Why the readiness?

Back to Exodus: When God Draws the Final Line

This Sunday, we return to the book of Exodus picking up where we left off last year. As we enter chapter 11, the final plague is revealed. The stakes intensify. Difficult and unsettling questions come to the surface.
Why does God judge?
How do we understand suffering?
Where is God’s justice and where is His mercy?

This is not an easy passage. But it is a necessary one. In Exodus 11, we see a God who confronts oppression, exposes false gods, remembers the cries of the suffering, and reveals Himself as the one true Lord. Come ready to wrestle, reflect, and worship the God who is just, faithful, and redemptive, even when His ways stretch our understanding.

Committed to Christ, Committed to His Church

What does it really mean to belong to a church? Is church something we attend or a family we commit to?

This Sunday, Peter Charlebois, one of our elders will share with us from Acts 15, and show us how the early church lived as a committed community united in truth, accountable in love, devoted to the mission of Christ, and centered on the grace of the Gospel. Come ready to consider what it means to be part of a Gospel-centered, committed community of believers where Christ’s love for us shapes our love and loyalty to one another.

Leadership matters! but in the church, it cannot look like leadership anywhere else. In a world shaped by sin, power easily drifts toward control, personality, and dominance. Yet Scripture offers a different vision: a church led not by one powerful voice, but by Christ Himself. This Sunday, I invite us to rediscover God’s design for church leadership where Jesus is the Head, grace levels us all at the foot of the cross, and authority is exercised through shared oversight, humble service, and faithful obedience to God’s Word. As we explore the roles of elders and deacons, we will see how Christ-centered, Spirit-dependent leadership protects the church, nurtures unity, and helps God’s people flourish for His glory.

Membership: A Gospel-Shaped Commitment

What does it actually mean when we say, “I commit myself to this church”?

This Sunday, we will slow down and carefully listen to the words of our membership covenant not as a form to be signed, but as a sacred promise made before God and one another. These are not empty words or institutional language; they are gospel-shaped commitments that describe what covenantal belonging looks like in everyday Christian life.

The membership covenant answers some of our deepest questions:
Who belongs to the church?
What kind of life are we committing to together?
And what does love look like when it is shaped by truth, sacrifice, and faithfulness?

In a culture suspicious of commitment, the membership covenant boldly declares that belonging is not accidental or casual, it is chosen, joyful, and costly. It binds us together not by preference, but by promise. Not by convenience, but by covenant.

From Attendance to Belonging

We live in a culture where it’s easy to attend but hard to belong.
We attend events, follow causes, and move on when it becomes inconvenient. But the church was never meant to be something we merely show up to. Scripture tells a deeper story, one where God doesn’t just gather a crowd, but forms a people.

As we begin this series, we’ll ask a foundational question: What does it truly mean to belong to the church? Not just to attend a service, but to be known, formed, and committed. We’ll explore how God binds Himself to His people through covenant, how Christ becomes the cornerstone of a living community, and why the church is described as a family, a kingdom, and a dwelling place for God’s Spirit.

Join us 4 PM on Sunday to reflect on moving beyond casual Christianity into covenantal faith where belonging to Christ reshapes how we belong to one another. The church is not just where we go; it is who we are becoming together in Christ.
